Fishies!!!

I just got more fishies! Now they aren't all bottom feeders. I'll put up pics too if my computer's power supply doesn't crash in 10 minutes of starting the computer.

My power supply poops out every half hour or so, shutting down the whole computer and making it impossible to get into anything...so I will share when that is better.

This is what the original layout was to be.



This is the tank pretty much now with a few fishies and a big dumb jerk pleco. He rearranged some things on his own. He's not in any of the pics because he's hiding but he's about 12 inches.





There are 2 red platies, one sunset platy (one died already) and 2 balloon mollies.



Oh yeah... and I've been concentration on breeding the angels at home and only noticed yesterday that these fuckers are dropping babies. As far as I can find there are about 4 babies which I think are from a red platy. No pics of that yet.

And now for some bad news... it looks like I've managed to introduce some parasites into the tank because everyone has Ich. I'm going to have to treat the whole tank tommorrow. I just hope no one else dies before the treatment is done. Especially the babies.

It's been a sad couple of days with today being the worst. The parasites (and snails, ugh) were probably introduced when I bought 4 harlequin rasboras. I should have realized there was a problem when the fish-fucker was selling his stock at 50% off.

Anyways. The babies didn't even last one day. It's a shame but they could have been eaten, via the circle of life. Unfortunately I didn't get in to work over the weekend until Monday to check on the rest of them. All the platies died and the smaller Molly. The red platies were the worst infested so I kinda expected that.

And now today. The treatment should be done by now and the molly and rasboras look fine, but Monstero, the pleco, is completely covered in the Ich. I talked to the Shark guys, and they gave me a newer treatment plus advised me to quarantine.

IF you don't know what Ich is, let me describe it. They are parasites that are like ticks. They attach themselves to the fish and no medication can get them at that point because they form a hard shell around themselves. You have to wait until they fall off at which point they reproduce and then release 2000 more apiece. That's when the meds kill them. Hence why Monstro was quaratined. To save the rest of them.

Now the sad part.... I had to put one of my white angels down. It was for the best. He/ She (still don't know) was messed up from the get go. She had swim bladder disease which is very hard to treat. She basically couldn't control being straight in the tank, swimming sideways and upside down and in circles. Sometimes she was fine and I've had her since she was little, 2-3 years? But lately she could control it at all and I thought she would die on her own.

But alas, they laid eggs and I don't know if they're fertilized but she was trying her hardest to do the job and while doing so thrashed wildly. This is the bad part because it seem to be completely freaking out the rest of them.

Anyway that's my week to the day. Why do I always ramble?

Wow, you're like Fishman now. My parents always had fish and I never knew what the fuck was going on in there. I just knew any time Mom got angel fish, they were going to die within a week.

Weird. You've got fish, Damian's got the frog, L & S got turtle power, then there's the cats and Jibby...between us all, we've got like a freaking pet store.

My betta had swim bladder stuff. He hung strong for a month then died. He was the fucking bomb, he swoop out of no where and steal food from my clown loaches, who were pretty fiesty for clowns. ya had to see it, it was cool.

I have been keeping bio filter media handy for the q-tank/ hospital tank. IT's cool, you can just stick a little in the filter so no one can see, and when I need to pop up a little tank quick for quarentine, its right there. Kinda satisfying to know I can throw a tank together in night, rather than waiting for it to cycle. Everyone always talks about putting all their new fish in there for 2 weeks (ppl from fish forums), I usually do, but not with my last fish. I mentioned the concept to the lady at the small fish store I went to, featuring the fish nazi, and she got all indignant, like I was inferring he had dirty tanks. IT wasn't because I didn't want to loose the fish I have had for the past coupe of years, in her mind...though she gave me her own special solution of ICH OUT, which doesn't even list what it is and tols me to put it in my tank every few weeks in the spring, and I did, and I think it is what pushed one of my weaker fishies over the edge to death. I am so mad Sorry, rambling and venting.

DO you have another angel?
That place didn't have a return policy? that is really gay they'd sell you sick fish. Can I beat them up?

I'm not too concerned about the livebearing babies. Apparantly those f-ers can drop kids every 6 weeks. I was more sad about my white angel. Now she's all lonely and fat. I hope she doesn't die from not dropping eggs.

Monstero is doing good. He's cleared up a lot now that he's quarantined. There's still a couple of specks.

I think the remainder at work are all healed. There were no signs of sickness on them and I treated for 3 days after just in case. So by Monday I can contemplate restocking the platies and mollies. With a little room left over for some baby angels.

The original plan was to bring the big angels back but they are old and big so they won't take kindly to the smaller fish. It's ok because their original tank should be fixed soon enough. I'll probably steal the gravel and filter from the tank their in now so I don't have to cycle it.

Yup. I can count 5 babies at work. I should put up a sign at work. "Fish for sale" Mollies and Angelfish. I wonder if anyone will buy them.

I finally fixed the broken tank. Now I just need a place to put it.

The fish in my room don't like me. They're never interested in swimming up to the glass to greet me like the others do. It's probably because I never see them. until the lights are off.

I bought a mate for my white one. He's blackish grey with orange eyes.



At first I thought it might be another girl. They always seemed to fight and the eggs that were laid were always eaten. But I was wrong. They finally let the eggs hatch into sqigglers. The mother has moved them once from the glass to a piece of slate.



And she is not letting daddy anywhere near them.



I'm interested to see what colors the babies come out as. On the other hand, what the hell am I going to do with more angelfish.

I have to check to see if they are compatible with the fish I have, but I'd be interested, if you want to get some off your hands. I need something good going on in my tank.
